Boy, 10, pulls plug on aqueduct

A 200-year-old aqueduct has been drained, sending millions of litres of water cascading into the river below.

David Halligan, 10, won a competition to pull the plug at the Pontcysyllte aqueduct, in north Wales.

Thomas Telford's 200-year-old structure is a World Heritage Site and is emptied every few years for maintenance reasons. It is drained by pulling a plug in the middle of the structure.
